Development Program Specialist, Gift Planning & Legal Affairs

The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)*, the private fundraising and alumni relations organization for UW-Madison, is recruiting for a Development Program Specialist to join a team responsible for planning and executing development programs on behalf of the Gift Planning and Legal Affairs areas. Responsibilities for this position include Gift Planning Administration, Legal Affairs Administration, and Donor Relations and Stewardship. The Development Program Specialist has significant contact with WFAA staff, vendors, gift planning donors, alumni, and other donors to the University.

Essential Functions

Gift Planning Administration

Assist Development Program Manager with tasks related to Gift Planning including:

  • Being a resource and contact point for donors interested in gift planning
  • Partnering with Gift Planning directors of development and other internal colleagues to facilitate and steward gifts
  • Estate administration and coordination of legal documentation
  • Database management
  • Development of marketing materials

Legal Affairs Administration

  • First point of contact for inquiries to the Office of Legal Affairs.
  • Coordination of legal documentation
  • Website and intranet content management

Donor Relations & Stewardship

  • Management of the Wisconsin Legacy Society recognition program
  • Project management of other planned gift stewardship efforts involving donor outreach and coordinating with internal stakeholders
  • Assist directors of development with the planning of special stewardship experiences
  • Stewardship event management
  • Preparation of gift, milestone, and other acknowledgment-related reports

Qualifications

  • High school graduate required. Post high school training, college degree, or equivalent preferred;
  • 3 + years of relevant professional work experience in a dynamic, team-orientated environment;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • High degree of familiarity with online communities, social media and the Internet;
  • High level proficiency with MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Previous database reporting and experience with constituent relationship management software preferred;
  • Creativity, innovation, flexibility and ability to work with loosely defined parameters
